Shane forgot a couple

Pro Wrestlin' Countdown: Friday

Hey guys, we're going to a wrestling show tomorrow. Forklift told me to remind him, so I'm going to have to remember to remind him later.

Today, I'm just going to share with you some of my favorite entrence themes from the past and present. Why? Because, no joke, I just happened to be listening to some when I remembered I was doing this countdown.

So here we go:

Mark Henry- I love this one because of it's simplicity. It sums up Mark's character as a big dude that hurts people pretty well.

Kane- This one is cool because for the longest time, his theme was just that guitar riff. I for one liked the lyrics they added later. I still miss his mask though :(

Zack Ryder- Douchebag from Long Island, with an awesome song. On his tights? The word "Oh" above a picture of a radio. Classic!

Cactus Jack/Mankind- The first one will always hold a soft spot in my heart. Mostly because around the time I started wrestling hearing this meant someone was about to have barbed wire rubbed in their face... Usually Cactus...

This next one I'll always remember because when that car-crash hit, you knew someone was about to get a sock in their mouth.

Finally, Im gonna end with a cool tag team mashup they did this year.

When Chris Jericho:

Teamed with The Big Show:

We got this theme when they came out together:

Awesome.

Pro Wrestlin' Countdown: Thursday

So I didn't do one yesterday. My excuse is that there's no wrestling on tv on wednsdays... so... it's like they dont... exist? Gonna have to be good enough, Im afraid.

So the opposite of the heel, is the babyface. Some good examples, I think, are guys like Yoshi Tatsu. I'd talk more about him, but Kurt did a good job the other day so fuck it.

Another guy I like is The Hurricane. This guy goes all out with his super hero gimmick, to the point where he even has a mild-mannered alter ego. Here he is, after weeks of build-up backstage, saving Tatsu of all people from the wicked Paul Burchill:

Sometimes though you can find the babyface obnoxious, and wind up cheering for the heel. You just can't stand the self-rightous sanctamonious prick that you're "Supposed" to be behind. It just makes you want to vomit up huge gobs of blood the way the little kids scream their heads off for some jackass who-

Pro Wrestlin' Countdown: Tuesday

Today let's talk about Heels, bad guy wrestlers.

To me, the Heel is one of the most important things in pro wrestling. He's the guy you want to see get the crap kicked out of. He's the one who riles up the fans. He's the one who makes the Babyface (good guy) look tough, fair, moral, etc.

So lets look at some good examples of being a Heel.

Here we see Andy Kaufman, famous comedian, cutting a promo on the south. At the time, Kaufman was in a feud with one Jerry "The King" Lawler and many of the fans down there thought he was the real deal. They wanted to see him dead. This is why they cheered like bloodthirsty maniacs with Lawler drove his head into the canvas.

To continue, here's a cool Rowdy Roddy Piper story from an interveiw he gave:

Wrestling Digest: You've led as interesting a life as one can have. What
would you say is the craziest thing that has ever happened to you?

Roddy Piper: There's stupid and there's crazy, and I have lots of both. I was in a lot of riots. I did this thing once where I was to play the Mexican National Anthem on my bagpipes. For three weeks I told people I had been practicing, and I get to
the ring and I played "La Cucaracha," and the night never even got started
because they rioted.

Roddy Piper is a crazy dude.

Finally, a quick story video combo of one of my favorite heel moments in recent history. So CM Punk (bad guy) and Jeff Hardy (good guy) had been feuding for a couple of months about the title belt, and also they hated eachother. So Punk challenges Hardy to a "Loser Leaves WWE" match and wins it. Hardy's gone, the fans go crazy, they hate CM Punk.

Cut to a week later. The show comes on and all of a sudden- WHaaaaaT? That's Jeff Hardy's music! The fans are like "It's Jeff! We like him! That music means Jeff is here!" Or is he...?

Gotta love that kid with the hair!

Our favorite ECW star

As many of you know Shane turned me back on to wrestling at the end of summer. Every week I tune in to ECW now. I'm still not in to the other crap yet though I'm starting to like some of the guys that rget gace on their programs and Raw is starting a story line with Bret Hart so I'm looking forward to that. As of right now my favorite wrestler on ECW is Yoshi Tatsu, his moves are much more interesting than most of the guys on WWE right now and his theme while cheesy and goofy as fuck isn't any of that nue metal shit.

Pro Wrestlin' Countdown: Monday

So, as the readers of the blog might know, a group of us are going to see a Professional Wrestling show this satarday. They know this because they're the ones who are going...

Anyway, in honor of this event I think Im going to count down the days with some pro wrestlin' primers.

Today I want to talk a bit about wrestling in pop-culture. When I think of american culture, I have to be honest, I don't think of much. Really, it's pretty sad. Then again, I'm pretty much some schmuck anyway, so it probably dosent matter... where was I going with this?

Oh yeah, wrestling is a pretty cool part of american culture. There are even periods where it gets to bleed into other things. Anyway, enough of me, here's a cool cartoons with Macho Man Randy Savage in them:
